Disaster Relief
Healey International Relief Foundation (HIRF) is a U.S. registered 501(c)(3) organization working to address pressing challenges in Sierra Leone for the past 22 years with a focus on health systems strengthening, food security, at-risk children and youth, and disaster response. In collaboration with partners, HIRF has invested in capacity building, donations of medicines and medical supplies, and service delivery.
We have achieved significant milestones by partnering with local communities, local governments, national and international organizations to implement sustainable solutions that continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
Through targeted training programs, we empower women to adopt practices that enhance productivity while safeguarding the environment. Simultaneously, we foster peer-to-peer relationships, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing among women farmers and market sellers, driving local business community development.
We have swiftly responded to numerous emergencies, including natural disasters and disease outbreaks, by providing immediate relief aid, medical supplies, and mobilizing emergency response teams. Our efforts have helped mitigate suffering and restore hope during times of crisis.
HIRF partnerships are helping strengthen healthcare services by shipping containers from the U.S. to Sierra Leone with medical supplies, equipment, and essential medicines. Most recently, HIRF supported a Maternal and Newborn Health Conference and Training Program in Bo with over 90 midwives and healthcare professionals trained in emergency care, leadership, management, and compassionate care.
With support from the U.S. Embassy in Sierra Leone, HealeyIRF conducted a sustainable agriculture symposium in Bo for women involved in agriculture. Over 50 women participated and learned about sustainable agriculture practices and ways to improve their business skills. Njala University and Caritas Freetown partnered with HealeyIRF in this effort.
